In this disorder, the person cannot stop the intrusion of unwanted thoughts actions or urges. So it repeats the same action frequently at the same time.
The exact cause is not yet understood. However, some genetic factors and chemical changes in some areas of the brain play a role.
Clinical features
Obsessions are frequent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are normally experienced as intrusive and senseless.
And they are accompanied by marked anxiety. Common obsessions include contamination, aggressions and sexual or religious thoughts.
Compulsions are repetition of a certain physical or mental act like washing of hands, checking, repeated counting or repeating words silently.
Diagnostic criteria of OCD
Obsessional thoughts or compulsive acts or both must be there for most of the day for at least 2 weeks.
It is recognized by the patient as their own complaint.
The thoughts, acts like images, are unpleasantly repetitive.
Homeopathic treatment
Behavioral therapy, counseling should go hand in hand along with homeopathic medicine, but if the disease is of more chronic complete cure with homeopathic medicine alone is doubtful.
But homeopathic medicines work very well along with conventional treatment.
